Our Process
Once we know we are a good fit for your business, we'll start the process of developing an optimized paid ads strategy as detailed below (with a few secret techniques thrown in to help personalize your strategy, of course!).
We understand how your audience is looking for you online.
We conduct extensive research to learn more about the behaviors and interests of your target audience. Then, depending on the type of paid ad campaign you need (Google or Facebook), we will conduct deep keyword, copy & landing page research to better understand how your potential customers and clients use specific search terms online, how they interact with other similar ad campaigns, and what copy compels them to convert.
We get to know your competitors and their strategies.
When you know who your competitors are and how they're currently leveraging either Google Ads or Facebook Ads, we're able to pull from their data to see what works and what doesn't, helping you optimize your ad spend and campaign objectives. We perform an in-depth investigation into all your competitors and identify their strategies and weak points along with gaps in their strategies that we are able to help you fill.
We structure your campaigns for maximum conversions.
We start by defining appropriate audience segmentations, ensuring that your message gets shown to the right audiences at the right time (and with the right intent). Then, we craft compelling ad copy and landing page content designed to help attract and convert high-intent customers. For our standard package, this means creating two campaigns, each with four ads that we test and optimize.
We optimize & adjust until we get it just right.
We carry out campaign optimization in five steps: budget, structure, offers, keywords and ads. This often includes performing tasks such as making landing page adjustments based on user behavior, compiling negative keywords, changing ad creative, and optimizing ad copy for higher conversion rates.

Paid Ads FAQs
What are paid ads?
Paid ads are ads that people, well, pay for (as opposed to organic traffic). You might also hear people referring to this type of marketing as PPC, which stands for pay-per-click.
Google Ads, for example, are paid for on a pay-per-click basis, meaning that you only pay when someone clicks on your ad. Facebook Ads are a bit different; they’re paid for on a per-impression basis (or per engagement, click, message or other measures of conversion).
Paid ads can be a great tool for immediate traffic as part of kickstarting your organic traffic & SEO efforts. They’re also great for attracting warm leads as part of a highly-targeted lead generation campaign.
Which is right for me: Google or Facebook?
Both platforms have their pros and cons, but ultimately it depends on your specific goals and needs. Google Ads are well-suited for ads that focus on search keywords, as users are typically searching for specific terms on Google. Facebook Ads, on the other hand, are better for ads that focus on building brand awareness or reaching a specific target audience, as Facebook allows you to target users based on interests and demographics.
How long does it take to build a paid ads campaign?
Depending on the campaign, it takes between 3-5 weeks from the initial research to the launch of the campaign.
How much should I invest in paid ads to see results?
It depends on your goals, offer, target audience, and industry. However, we don’t suggest you invest in the setup and management of any paid ad campaign if you’re not prepared to invest at least $300-500/month in ad spend.
How long does it take to see results with paid ads?
Paid ads are different than SEO in that results are immediate. With a well-optimized campaign, the right ad copy, and a well-built landing page, you should start seeing results nearly immediately. However, we always advise our clients to allow for a 2-3 week buffer in the beginning to allow campaigns to leave the learning phase long enough for us to get good data on how to best optimize copy, keywords, and images.
How do you optimize paid ad campaigns?
It depends on the type of campaign. With Google Ads, for example, we’re monitoring the search terms that people use that result in your ad coming up. We’ll monitor negative keywords that don’t match the intent we’re looking for and add those to your negative keyword list. We’ll also be monitoring the landing page conversion rate and optimizing the design and copy of it to help ensure higher conversion rates (among many other optimization tactics).
With Facebook Ads, optimization is usually all about modifying the target audience, ad images, and ad copy depending on user behavior. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. However, we can’t give away all of our secrets!
What if I don't have a Google Ads or Facebook Ads account?
Depending on the package you choose, this will likely be included. We will create your account for you and help ensure that it’s set up for you to easily use and access whenever you want. If it’s not included, we will send you a helpful step-by-step guide on how to get everything set up.
What will you need from me?
Before we kick off you campaigns, we’ll send you a Sherpa Way PPC Questionnaire and potentially another brand questionnaire that will help us dig deeper into who you are, what your core offer is, and who you are trying to target. We just ask that you take the time to fill those in as honestly and in-depth as possible.
Outside of that, what do we need from you? Patience and a willingness to walk through the process! While paid ads are more immediate than SEO, there is a lot of setup in the beginning (including researching keywords, writing copy, and designing landing pages) that can take a bit of work. Once we’re out of those woods, it’s usually smooth sailing, though.
Will I be able to see my ads?
Of course! You will have full access to your ad account and be able to view your campaigns. We do, however, request that you don’t make any changes to anything while we’re working on your campaigns.
Do I need to understand PPC vocabulary?
Not really, no! We will provide you with a basic understanding of the PPC vocabulary that makes sense for you to know. However, we’ll help you focus on what matters so that you’re not wasting time learning language that you won’t really need.
Here’s a basic guide of some PPC vocabulary though:
- Ad Copy: This refers to the words you see in the ads themselves. This is usually the the headline, any descriptions, and the URL.
- Clickthrough Rate: This is a ratio and is calculated using the number of clicks over the number of impressions (views, more or less). A higher clickthrough rate is better.
- Conversion Rate: Another ratio that is calculated by taking the number of conversions and dividing them by the number of clicks.
- Cost Per Click: This is one of the most useful metrics to measure as it’s a good indicator of the performance of your campaign against your competitors.
